Terms of Service
The agreement for using Vigil.
Last updated: {{LAST_UPDATED}} · Version: draft
The service
These terms govern your use of Vigil, AI night-guard software that runs person-detection on cameras you already own and sends alerts to your phone. By using Vigil you agree to these terms.
Licence & acceptable use
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Vigil for your own premises for the duration of your subscription. You must not use Vigil for unlawful surveillance, resell it, or attempt to reverse-engineer it except as {{APPLICABLE_LAW}} allows.
You are the data controller
You decide which cameras Vigil watches and are responsible for using it lawfully — including displaying required CCTV signage, having a lawful basis to record the people it captures, and, if you enable face recognition, obtaining any consent the law requires. Vigil processes this data on your behalf as your processor, as set out in the DPA.
No guarantee (security tool)
Vigil reduces risk and surfaces events for your decision. It does not guarantee that every event will be detected or that any incident or crime will be prevented. The service is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation.
What leaves your site
So there is no confusion: your alert photos travel to the Telegram bot you control, and — only if you turn on AI scene descriptions — one still image per incident is sent to our AI provider to write the description. Everything else stays on your premises. See Security.
Fees & trial
Vigil is priced per site, never per camera, from {{PRICE_HOME}}. Trials run for {{TRIAL_TERMS}}. Fees, billing and cancellation are as agreed at sign-up.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by {{APPLICABLE_LAW}}, Vigil's total liability is limited to {{LIABILITY_CAP}}, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Termination
Either party may end the subscription as agreed. When it ends, the guard stops watching; the footage and evidence on your box remain yours to keep or delete.
Governing law
These terms are governed by {{GOVERNING_LAW}}, and disputes are subject to {{VENUE}}.
